Banks and finance companies
Banks typically assess income, credit history, existing obligations and employment stability. If you meet their criteria, a bank personal loan may offer a lower cost and longer repayment period. Published rates are usually “from” rates and may not apply to every profile.
Banks may use digital identity and income verification, but approval and disbursement timing still depends on the institution and your documents.
Licensed moneylenders
Licensed moneylenders operate under Ministry of Law rules and may assess borrowers who do not fit a bank’s criteria. Their rates and fees are generally higher, and loans often have shorter tenures. Face-to-face identity verification at an approved business location is required.
A loan-matching platform can help you compare potential providers, but it does not change the legal requirements or guarantee approval.
A decision checklist
Start with the smallest amount you need. Compare EIR, total payable amount, fees and repayment dates. Check whether you qualify for a bank product before considering a higher-cost alternative, and verify any moneylender through the official registry.
